“Here, there and beyond” is a poetic journey. A photo series of black and white photographs that began in 2003 when photographer Carina Wachsmann left her hometown in Germany for a journey that has yet to end. Landscapes, architecture, and portraits, Wachsmann’s work ranges from places in Europe to The Americas and beyond, from urban to the intimate, from inglorious landscapes to the twist of a woman’s rear distorted by perspective.
Black and white photographs play a decisive role in Wachsmann‘s work. Graphic, timeless and always with a touch of nostalgia, everything is stripped down to the core. With light, shadows, textures, contrasts, mood, and poetic emotions, her “less is more” approach provides a necessary break from the constant flood of information and visual noise in our world.
It‘s this simplicity that allows us to pause momentarily, to travel for an instant to a place that is pure.
The series was published in a 25 pages printed BOOK which won the IPA international photo awards in 2019. You can order an original signed copy with/without a limited edition print included directly by writing here.
